Plagues and Federation

Plagues and Federation is a really good book that hooked me in and is very intresting. I like this book because it is written in a diary format which is kind of olden days and uses words in their conversation that we wouldnt use today (eg. arvo,ma,pa,littles).  I also like that it has a hidden story line that is woven in an that is that females didnt have power and it was very male dominate. My proof to back this up is that women would go into service (as maids) and men would do real work. Kitty has a dream to be a writer so she is trying to persuade her ma that she is better then going into service. There is a message that women can be just as good as men.

Some themes that are displayed are family, relationships, strength, healing, death and survival that can be spiritually and physically.

Some key points are the Boer War, Federation, Bubonic plague, the search for Australia's Capital City and a relationship between Reggie and Kitty that is also like a rollercoaster.
