'Jali Boy' and 'More than just a piece of Land'
I predict that the book "Jali Boy" by Ricky Macourt will be about a boy named Jali, an Indigenous Australian boy who has a very hard life at home and school, maybe struggling to keep up. I infer this because the book is tiled 'Jali Boy', and is part of the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Package. On the front cover it showcases a boy, presumably Jali, playing rugby with a tough, pained, struggling facial expression. In this book, the vocabulary that I expect to see is:
Struggle
Aboriginal
School
Family
Work
Rugby
Football
Hard
I predict that the book 'More than just a piece of Land' will be about two siblings, a brother and a sister who are pushed out of their favorited land and do not want to, but frequently visit. I think they also have the theory that it is 'more than just a piece of land' to them. I infer this because the front cover showcases a boy and girl (similar looking as if they were from the same family) smiling and riding horses in a rocky, sandy land. I infer this is their favourite land they are forced away from because they are smiling, so they seem happy there. The title is 'More than just a piece of Land' and the front cover caption states,"They forced us off these lands. But we kept coming back." This is how I made my assumption by peicing together these clues. In this book, the vocabulary that I expect to see is:
Aboriginal
Home
Belong
Land
Like
Move
Away
Far
Rocks
Happy
Forced
Own
Love
Struggle

I look forward to reading your future blogs and how you relate the events of the book with our study in history. You have made good connections with the blurb and your prior knowledge of events happening in history.
