Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - The First Fraction

Miss Peregrines' is a fictional story of uncanny talents and extraordinary powers, incorporating a series of characters, the main character being a young man of 16, Jacob Portman. In his youth years he recalls being an audience to his grandfather's stories regarding people with supernatural powers that reside in an offshore island in Wales, UK.

As he progressed through life, Jacob became increasing doubtful of the reality of the stories he had heard and the photos he had seen until he was almost positive that such individuals did not exist.
But this long harboured opinion found itself changing in the next few minutes....  Jacob receives a phone call from the storyteller himself, demanding that he hand over the key that opens his substantial weapons cabinet, equipped with a small army worth of firearms such as Pistols and Rifles as well as an assortment of lethally sharp knives he had collected in his several years of serving his country in Afghanistan. He bellowed that the 'monsters' were coming and that it was crucial he was armed with some form of defensive object. Jacob, riding shotgun with his friend Ricky in the ancient Crown Vic, towards Grandpa Portman. they find the house upturned, which encouraged the niggle in Jacob's mind that his beloved relative had gone round the twist. The duo repeatedly call his name, but find no reply. They anxiously head into the woods, this time with an extra addition to the group: Ricky's .22 (calibre), ready to confront their fate. They find Grandpa Portman wearing a vacant expression, blood coursing it's journey down his spindly leg. Then they see a tantalising daring sight: the possible culprit. This is a monster featuring tentacles, whom Ricky sent a succession of bullets after. I can infer he was petrified because he shot many bullets as he was unsure of the mortality of the beast. The beast disappears.
This book, so far, is interesting and look forward to reading more!
