The Garden Of Empress Cassia

The book that I am reading "The Garden Empress of Cassia" is about a girl named Mimi Lu who has recieved a wooden box from her art teacher named 

Miss O'Dell. Mimi laid the box on the bench and opened it carefully, inside were rows and rows of coloured pastels that shimmered in the light. Mimi heard that her Uncle Ding was sick in hospital, she thought that if she drew a picture for him he would be reborn to continue the cycle of life. 

Mimi then opened her wooden box of pastels, went outside and began to draw a picture, then a lady ran by and saw the drawing she stopped and looked at, then more people began to stop by and throw money in the box. As people started to walk by they forgot about their day to day lives for just a moment. What I find interesting about this book is the magic, when Mimi drew the garden of four seasons is was the main attraction at the cafe that her, her mum (Mrs Lu) and her school partener (Josh) created.
