I predict the Plagues and Federation will be about the plague called the black death that terrorised  countries during the Boer war.  Due to prior knowledge I know that the black death was a disease carried by rats that would spread, and kill people country by country due to droughts across the area.

I believe that the book is going to be about a family that has just got the news about the black death.  I think that the family would be trying to flee from infected areas and facing problems along the way.

I believe that some of the obstacles that they will face are war because at that time the Boer war was still in action and still raging.  Another obstacle I think they will find is that one of the family members gets infected and has to be abandoned.
